Commissioner John F. King has served as Georgia’s Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner since 2019 and was elected to a full term in 2022. His appointment made history as the first Hispanic statewide official in Georgia. Commissioner King brings a distinguished career in law enforcement, military service, and public leadership. He previously served as Chief of Police for the City of Doraville and began his law enforcement career with the Atlanta Police Department. He also retired as a Major General in the U.S. Army, with deployments to Bosnia-Herzegovina, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Africa. A decorated military veteran and respected community leader, Commissioner King holds degrees from Brenau University and the U.S. Army War College and has completed executive and national security programs through Harvard University, Syracuse University, and the FBI National Academy. Commissioner King is fluent in Spanish and has dedicated his career to public safety, service, and strengthening communities throughout Georgia and beyond. |

We would like to invite Rotary to join us for the 9/11 Remembrance Walk on Friday, September 11, 2026 at Drake Field. This year marks the 25th anniversary of that day, and we come together to honor the lives lost, the courage of the first responders, and all those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service of others. As part of the remembrance, members of Peachtree City Fire Rescue will walk the route around Lake Peachtree in full gear and air packs, paying tribute to the extraordinary dedication and sacrifice of the firefighters whoresponded on 9/11.
